About Me
Hello there, I’m Arjun 👋
I have a lot of interests, although right now I’m an undergraduate studying Computer Science and Philosophy at the University of California, San Diego. I try to enjoy all that life has to offer, and learn something new every day. I love meeting people, and seeing the great outdoors. I am a sucker for good Sci-Fi, but other genres of literature, movies, and video games are enjoyable too.
My Life Stack
Smartphone: I’ve been trying to use my phone less, and mostly succeeded in that endeavour. Still, when I need to drop a message, check my emails, or consult The Almighty Calendar, my experiences are ameliorated by the Pixel 9 Pro. The cameras on it are pretty great too!
Computers: I have a desktop PC at home (Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 3070), and a Thinkpad T480s, both running Fedora Workstation. My primary computer that’s always with me however, is my max-spec M1 MacBook Air. It is still an incredible machine, although I’m starting to push its limits and dread the day it must be replaced.
Coffee: The Hoop for light-roast pour-over black coffee is my new mainstay (I’m sorry AeroPress, you served me well).
Cameras: I carry around the Sony RX-100 II for when I want to take a more meaningful photograph than one I might take with my smartphone. Sometimes I even step up to my Olympus OM-D E-M10 II. Prime lenses are what I prefer: 45mm, and 17mm (90mm and 35mm in Full Frame Equivalent).
About This Website
This website is built using Hugo, a static-site generator. The Hugo theme that I am using is Stack, by Jimmy Cai, albeit a very out-of-date version onto which I have tacked on modifications to keep it somewhat compliant with newer Hugo versions. (I really need to stop procrastinating on moving this site to hakyll or another alternative)
This website is hosted by GitHub via Github Pages.
Nowadays I primarily use Helix a “post-modern” text-editor inside of Ghostty to write not just this blog, but everything I do. I occasionally use Zed, and VSCode when I have to. I’ve grown to appreciate software that “just works” without requiring my excessive tinkering with it. Obsidian is also quickly becoming a huge part of my workflow across all domains.
All images that appear on this website are taken by me, either by one of my aforementioned cameras or a screenshot from one of my computers.
All content on this website is written by myself, a real human being. I maintain this blog purely for the personal purpose of exploring ideas I find interesting, and feel the use of AI for writing my posts would come in the way of that. Older posts are maintained for posterity, and may not reflect the current state of my thoughts on a topic.
All opinions expressed are my own, and do not reflect those of past, current, or future employers, and or educational institutions.
